Inpact of new Synology policy for Plus models

I am 99% confident that the current script will work for the '25 series Plus models. If it doesn't then I'll update the script so it does work.

Regarding DS925+, the system cannot install and your script cannot run. But you can enter Synology NAS>mode through Telnet. But I don't know how to run your script under this mode.

To run the script it has to be drives migrated from old Synology units first, as when booting up for the first time instead of prompting you to install it'll show a page saying incompatible drives instead. Perhaps there is Telnet access but will the script detect the currently inserted drives if DSM is not yet installed?

You can setup a new DS925+ with either:

1. Migrated drives from another, pre 2025 plus series Synology.
2. Any brand 2.5 inch SSD.
3. A single Synology HDD.

Then download and run syno_hdd_db so you can create a storage pool on the drives you want to use.

I had considered running the script via DSM's recovery mode telnet and will test that once my DS925+ arrives next week.

Alex_of_Chaos on reddit knows of an easy way to get DSM to install on any HDD. I'm just waiting to see what he comes up with.
