DS1522+ Crucial unrecognized firmware

I can see my M2 Drive in the Storage manager but, despite (more than one) promising looking run of sync_hdd_db.sh and subsequent reboot, the storage manager is saying "Unrecognized firmware version ...."

I would be grateful for any hints on what I could check next.

DSM successfully checked disk compatibility.

You may need to reboot the Synology to see the changes.

Answering this myself. Turns out you can just ignore the warning and create a storage pool anyway. I was so spooked by all the kerfuffle, about what they support and what they don't, that I didn't think to just try it.
