Devices outside local network #15

KMS activations are valid for 180 days, a period known as the activation validity interval. KMS clients must renew their activation by connecting to the KMS host at least once every 180 days to stay activated. The devices need to reach the KMS server. This can be done by VPN for example, if the device is outside of the network where the KMS server runs. One bolder variant is to run the KMS server on TCP:443 publicly, this will not get flagged by Microsoft but you have now an open licensing server that anyone can use (unless you implement some restrictions via your firewall). |

Do the devices have to remain in the local network after activation? Lets say a family member or friend brings over a Laptop to be activated, will it remain activated for life once they leave my local network? or will it have to be reactivated every so often?
