Track leadership contributions 2i2c staff makes to upstream projects

2i2c staff make leadership contributions to upstream communities on a fairly consistent basis. We want to continue to do that in ways that are systematic, supported and structured. To do so, we want to first get a better understanding of what these contributions are. So this is a tracking issue to track those, so we can distill useful structure from that raw information. We also recognize this won't be complete, and that's ok.

What I did: I participated in the JupyterHub / JupyterBook collaboration cafe, working through discussion about repoproviders, jupyterbook.pub, upstream changes required in jupyterbook to support use cases around previewing PRs, binderlite, and some of Project Pythia's needs from JupyterBook

@yuvipanda let's make this experiment visible by putting it on our board? i've been bugging @agoose77 and @choldgraf about capturing foundational JB work that doesn't quite fit into our system of work, and this feels like a good start to doing that capture.

What I did: Met Celeste Horgan (JF board rep for Snowflake) and shared context for community work between the Community Building committee and the initiative she's trying to shape at the board level

What we did: @yuvipanda, @choldgraf, @Gman0909 and @aprilmj all participated in the JupyterHub/Binder roadmap workshop, by brainstorming and collaboratively describing areas of focus and by sharing the 2i2c approach to roadmapping given we recently made our own roadmap public.

Date: Feb 23rd - 27th

What I did: Had a few hours of backchannel conversations about the proposed LLM contribution policy in the JupyterHub organization, both with JupyterHub team members and other stakeholders in the Jupyter organization that were interested in this effort. Includes a discussion we had in the executive council about this topic.

What I did: Met with Celeste Horgan (Snowflake rep, new community working group lead on the foundation) to give her a rundown of Jupyter's overall structure and think about community strategy, and connect her with several folks I knew

What I did: attended the collaboration cafe and helped a few folks from TU Delft and the Turing Way brainstorm ways to improve internationalization in the myst and jupyter book project. Created a new issue and repostory to demo i18n in the project. One outcome from that was noted in TTW community

What we collectively did: @yuvipanda, @agoose77, @jnywong and @aprilmj all joined the collaboration cafe along with Chris. In addition to the internationalization work, I think some discussion focused on widgets in JB?

Yuvi and I helped further build out the JupyterHub roadmap and process for using that roadmap.

What I did: Spent a couple of hours talking with Sanjay @ DevSeed about navigating the technical and organizational aspects of the jupyterbook/myst ecosystem, and brainstorming ways that he could leverage myst internally to start driving interest towards it for VEDA and DevSeed generally.
