[BUG] 2sxc Apps on Multi-Tenant (separate database) Oqtane Site

I'm using latest version of Oqtane 6.1.3 on Azure with 2sxc App 20.00.03.

The app works perfectly on the initially installed Oqtane site. Recently I added another site using a different database. Install went fine and haven't seen any issues. When I try to use 2sxc apps I don't see the apps that were installed on original site. I can use 2sxc Content without a problem, but if I try to install the any app that was installed on original site, I get the following error.

Apps are usually installed by site and can have different content on each site.

Some sites may also have certain apps (such as the Blog) while others may not have them.

So this is by design. There are ways to share apps across site boundaries, but that's fairly complex.

The error shows that it's trying to install News on c:\home\site\wwwroot\2sxc\1\... which already looks a bit off.
Is Oqtane installed in c:\home\site\wwwroot (so do you also have a c:\home\site\wwwroot\wwwroot path)?
If that's the case I guess that's valid but a bit confusing 😉.

Note that it appears that you're trying to install in on site 1.
Since I assume that site 1 is the existing site, and the new site probably has a higher number, this seems off.
Please make sure that you are on the site where you want to install the new apps.

...so please try that and report back if everything worked.

Minor note: you darkened out some of the image, but parts of it still show the domain, so you may want to replace the picture.

Sorry for the delay in response . . . I was on vacation for a couple of days.
I'm on Azure, so yes, my root content is in wwwroot and I do have a sub-folder wwwroot (see screenshot - https://photos.app.goo.gl/kLwJKRKAawDEekAY7)

Did you open the apps-management from the new sub-sites?
Maybe open with ctl+click so you can see the tenant ID in the URL.
Do you see what you expect, or is it still showing 1?

I've got 1 install with 5 Tenants (each has their own database)

I would think your file structure would be TenantId/SiteId, but it doesn't appear that way (see image: https://photos.app.goo.gl/58c2BQvgNafBN3Z6A )

So for each of those apps installed I can only use on 1 site) . . . except for Structured content . . . . That works fine on every install.

So this is a bit confusing.
First of all, each site should be separate - this is how it should look (in this case on a dev system)

and this on a production system

So your expectations are correct

1. every site is separate
2. but only referenced by site-id, as the tenant id would just add another depth to the folder
3. minor note: the 2sxc "site" is called a zone and the IDs don't have to match the Oqtane IDs. This is because there are scenarios where multiple sites can use the same zone - for example in the anticipated multi-language scenarios where each language would be a site in Oqtane, but share the same content in 2sxc

At the moment my guess is that it could have to do with using multiple DBs.
our own setups all use the same DB for simplicity, so we never really tested the multi-DB approach.
I could imagine that maybe a method 2sxc uses to ask Oqtane for the path / site id may not work in multi-DB scenarios.

Could you do some more research into this?

1. compare a test-setup with single DB multi-site vs. mult-db multi site?

The more you can tell us about what the cause is, the more likely we can find the time to quickly fix it.

Here again . . . I would think your file structure should be TenantId/SiteId

or you could use one folder level, but name it 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2 for TenantId-SiteId
