What does the "refiner" do?

are you in the SDXL Branch ? just updated and i cant see that

Yeah, which branch are you at because i switched to SDXL and master and cannot find the refiner next to the highres fix?

I am using a fork, "vladmandic"

Now the option has been changed to "second pass".

Is the sdxl model available anywhere? On huggingface it's available only "for studies"

You can fill in some crap as it grants automatic access.

once you activate a .safetensor model in the Refiner, how do you turn it off in the same session? It is always active.
Please help.

You cannot, but if you reload the UI usually it back to empty/off (check setting of just hard refresh the webui)
In Automatic1111 latest update 1.7.0 they (HiRes Fix & Refiner) have checkboxes now to turn it on/off
