Error "Size mismatch for model..." when trying to load sd_xl_base in Automatic1111.

Hello all, so I'm trying to load the sd_xl model and this message appears all the time! I have no idea how to get around this issue. I don't know anything about coding so absolutely need help from someone knowledgeable here.

This is the first lines of the error:

    "size mismatch for model.diffusion_model.input_blocks.4.1.proj_in.weight: copying a param with shape torch.Size([640, 640]) from checkpoint, the shape in current model is torch.Size([640, 640, 1, 1]).

This problem started happening to me today using v 1.6.0 that had been working and was not updated. Tried various ways to diagnose.

What finally worked was:

• copying a working 1.5.1 install from my other PC
• updating it to 1.6.0 via Git

What didn't work:

• using k-diffusion 0.0.16 instead of the pinned 0.0.15 (tried because I noticed that repo had updated today in my A1111 for some reason)
• deleting venv folder and starting again (installed OK but same errors)

What it might be?

• my 1.5.1 install from the other PC was set to run without xformers, so (long shot) maybe it's some incompatibility with something that updated (a series of site-packages were updated today for some reason)
• IDK

Edit 1:

• The copied+updated+working version uses torch 2.0.0 and the failing one uses torch 2.0.1 (possible lead on cause)

Did you ever find out what the issue was and how to fix it?

I'm also somewhat new to coding and have been having this issue the entire time since downloading automatic1111. Multiple people in other threads have suggested the "size mismatch" issue has to do with the .yaml files being named incorrecty or placed in the wrong places, but that doesn't seem to be the case as not only have I double checked for errors, all of the non-sdxl models work with no problem.

As for the possible workaround of trying to re-work an old version (1.5.1 in this case) in, unfortunately that does not help with a fresh install of the old ver., as the problem persists regardless.

Xformers is also not the problem in case, as I have checked for any changes on a clean install and there are no differences. Tried both an old and new build as well just in case - still no difference.

As for torch, while I was unable to find the 2.0.0 version for download, i have instead manually upgraded torch 2.0.1. to 2.1.2, and that did not fix the situation either. I'm at a loss as to what else to even try.

@Milkan I never did. I gave up trying to find the cause once I found my work around.

The funny thing was, the app had been sitting on disk unchanged since the last time I used it successfully. I stopped using it for a few weeks then tried to pick it up again. It somehow spontaneously developed this problem.

At the time I figured either a model/repo automatically updated as part of starting up, triggering the problem, or it was somehow related to an NVIDIA driver update. One possible clue IIRC: the fixed solution used Torch 2.0 and the failed one used 2.0.1. I can't be sure I'm remembering that correctly.
