To scratch the itch you could try the latest Forge release, at least it's in a familiar UI

+1 for this. It works great using DPM++ 2M SGM_Uniform / Simple. I have been doing 30 steps, 1200x720 wallpapers all day. Just make sure to do a clean install and DO NOT add any extensions yet. It will mess up Forge.
