History of previous prompts and drop-down menu to access them

I know that we can recover the prompt used for each image via its metadata in the PNG Info section. But it's sometimes laborious.

It would be nice to keep a history of the last x prompts and be able to select them from a drop-down in the Prompt field.

You can do easy that by going on History tab, "renew page" , and select a picture, there you see the details, and you have buttons with "send to text2img" or "send to img2img". This is what I do, if I want to use same seeds or prompt from a past generation.

The history tab is indeed a great way, however I like the idea to have a "quickhistory" of the last N runs in a dropdown too

My images browser extension is up-to-date. I see no history tab. I'm trying to recover prompts with wildcards in them. Png info and image browser don't save wildcards, just their results.

it's not called history anymore afaik, it's just the images browser. I don't know how to help you regarding wildcards unfortunately /:

how do you do that?

Just drag-drop the picture png made with stable diffusion into the PNG Info panel on the left, and you will see the prompt on the right panel. And if you have Image Browser extension installed, by clicking on any picture.

I use Image Browser extension and click on the picture but I cannot see the prompt

that only working if you keep the images in the output folder from stable diffusion or generel keep the files on your harddrive.
people who (as example) store the generated images in a image organizer (like hydrus network) loose this kind of informations from the png. so a logging function that stores the used prompts seperatly would be pretty neat. currently i log every prompt in a notepad txt file. gets pretty messy after some rounds xD

This is a very underrated suggestion, some people really need this feature, a quick history panel/drop-down.

I´ve been thinking about this feature for a while now but it´s actually not that simple since you still have to deal with all the dynamic things that happen, for instance in case of xyz grid, would you show them as a single history line or as multiple lines since seed, prompt, checkpoint etc. could change. Same goes for dynamic prompts, wildcards and so on.

@Centurion-Rome Awesome recommendation. I might build upon it. The only thing it seems to be lacking, is a way to open and view them, by them I mean batch images and that is an easy fix. There is also an issue when doing img2img, mine are not showing up. Perhaps that is not a feature (yet)?

That one is pretty shitty imho. It saves stuff in a json. Works well when you are at 10, 20 or 200 prompts. But soon it becomes a mess, when there are so many promptthat it has 100 pages. And its slow to delete/remove stuff from it. Also it doesn't delete the images from the output folders when you delete the prompt, which is annoying since you need to clean up a lot yourself

Would be nice having one which uses a database, like sqlite or something a bit more efficient and has options to delete the output files too
