Why the Unprompted extension shows ads on the UI?

Hi, I know that people's work should be rewarded, in many ways, but... why the Unprompted extension shows advertising in the UI?

I hope you don't take me the wrong, it just seems to me that displaying advertising in softwares (even if it's free) is not good.

I respect and admire everyone who helps this great community software grow, but imagine that every person who makes a script or an extension puts ads in the UI. Not good.

I think everyone can put links to donate or purchase something in their own Githubs where the script/extension is uploaded, but directly in the software kinda sucks.

And before someone tells me that we have a dissmis button, it dsnt work, or it dsnt work for me, i can click the dissmiss button 100 times and the ad is still there.

maybe the AD can be "on hide" until we press the SHOW ME THE AD button, but not make people watch Ads on the UI directly.

Just my opinion, please dnt hate me :p

EDIT: if someone knows wich files I can modify/delete to avoid the AD to appear, just let me know... <3

I took a quick look at this extension. It's the 4th line in style.css.

As for the main question, a developer can handle their project however they like 🤷‍♀️

"...As for the main question, a developer can handle their project however they like 🤷‍♀️.." -> yep, u r totally right on that, however, for me, it dsnt feel right to find ads on a comunity software made by a lot of people, if that is the case, i prefer to donate to Automatic and crew for the hard work and not to someone taking advantage of a very popular software, sorry, but is what i see on that ad. I respect the decision but I dnt share the same point of view of people putting ads. I feel this is like Youtube, I know youtube needs to pay for servers, connections and all that kind of stuff (infrastructure) but YT take advantage on content creators. A content creater spend A LOT of time creating videos and just receive like a 0.01% of the revenue from the ads YT shows on their videos. Here is almost the same, Automatic and crew making an excelent software, expending a LOT of time and effort on the UI and someone, using FREE tools and some coding (with this im not telling the person is not working hard with his extension), ask for money (not mandatory), and, i dnt see in any place that the person who made "the Unprompted extension" is giving even the 0.01% to Auto and crew. I feel is not right to put ads on the software itself, sell ur stuff on ur page, not the software.

If i cant remove the ad in Line 4 of the code, unfourtnaly i will have to remove the Unprompted extension from my UI. Im againts ADs everywhere, not just here. :p

You can ask @ThereforeGames to create a hide me bar, or a click X button.
I used another extension by him before, txt2mask, and it has a sponsor section, so, its not new.
He's a nice guy and he might do it for you. :) 👍

There is another tag option for extensions, called ads, which hides extensions (with ads?) but adding the tag means the extension will not be shown by default, unless you've unticked the hide ads option. I also didn't know to put the tags when adding it as an extension.

To be clear, im not telling that @ThereforeGames is a bad person or anything like that, i also use the txt2mask entension. I just feel that if you put ads on a software made by the comunnity is not right, is like to take advantage on someones work, even if u work on a extension. I feel that @ThereforeGames is free to sell everything he wants, thats not the issue. But to make people look at ads just because, again, it dsnt feel right to me.

Again, is my humble opinion and I dnt want @ThereforeGames think im against his work, work that i enjoy a lot, but ADs? ads are not for me. :p maybe is that i kinda know how ADs works on the internet and maybe im mixing what i know with this. Maybe im totally wrong, but is what i feel.

Sorry if im been some kind of an asshole, but again, is what i feel everytime i see an AD.

It's just a CSS file. If you had taken a few seconds to look at the file, it would have been very apparent what to do.
