(Mac) Hires.fix is broken after updating to Ventura 13.2.1

The only thing I changed was updating macOS to the latest which is Ventura 13.2.1. Since then, Hires.fix is broken. Upscale by 2 or more shows like the image I attached. 1.5 works fine tho.

I reinstalled SD WebUI and then downloaded extensions but still having same issues so I reinstalled it again but this time, without anything. But now, I can confirm that the issue is still happening no matter what samplers and models I use whenever you upscale by 2 or higher. There are no errors while generating images from terminal at all.

It worked perfectly fine until today so updating macOS is the only reason why Hires.fix is broken. At this point, there is no fix for this unless Automatic1111 or other developers have solutions for this issue.

But can anyone confirm this or am I the only one having this issue? I deleted and clean installed SD WebUI twice so I dont see any reasons not to work unless macOS is causing the problem.

I had the same issue, it's nothing to do with Ventura 13.2.1., updating the webui with a git pull in the terminal seems to have fixed it for me

Then it doesn't make sense. The only thing I changed was macOS and I re-installed twice. I'm already using --medvram.

What Mac do you have and how much ram? Maybe to need to use --lowvram now, I'm on an M1max with 64gb never had a problem until recently, never needed to use --medvram before this

The "Mac" page? There are multiple separate issues being discussed there -- this one included -- and it's getting noisy.

Especially since recent updates seem to have introduced a number of distinct issues that, even if they're irrelevant to PC/Linux, are causing grief for Mac users.

The New instructions for running web UI on macOS page seems like an appropriate place for "I installed and it won't run" posts, but may I respectfully opine that distinct performance issues like this deserve their own thread.

Specifically, based on the issues I've had to deal with, I'd love to see:

• MAC: DDIM Not Working
• MAC: SwinIR Not Working
• MAC: Which PyTorch Version Should I Use
• MAC: Extensions that Break SD-UI

I mean, we've got, like, 1,000 pages in Discussion already. Even if it only benefits a small minority of us, I'd appreciate a clean, focused thread about solving a single common problem, instead of having to sift through the clutter.

Plus, it would help to give a head count of how many are actually affected by these discrete issues, so as to better segregate the "me problems" from "SD-UI code snafus".

WORKAROUND FOUND!

Give multidiffusion-upscaler-for-automatic1111 a try. It's sidestepping all the problems I've been having with Hires fix and DDIM. And much faster than Hires fix ever was.

That's only limited to img2img and doesn't really solve the problem. txt2img with Hires.fix works differently which cant be replaced with img2img. At this point, I'll just wait for updates.

Yeah, I feel your pain.

Like I said, it's a workaround, not a fix. SwinIR is still fried, but at least I'm getting 2x DDIM upscales again.

But with MacRumours saying 13.3's release date could be anywhere from next week to the end of June, and my disinterest in running beta software on a well-functioning machine, it's better than nothing.

And also, at least as I understand it -- and please correct me if I'm wrong -- txt2img Hires fix first renders a standard size, and then upscales it. I've got folders full of standard-size renders that were left behind after Hires fix failed.

So rendering in txt2img and then sending it to img2img for upscaling is close to the same process, just with extra steps. Or am I missing something?

You could argue that the Hires fix version is superior in some ways, but I don't think the Multidiffusion one is an unacceptable alternative.

I got it fixed by updating MacOS to 13.3 Beta.
