VAE Sharing inside text file(?)

If I have automatic enabled, the VAE has to be the same name is my understanding. A lot of models share the same VAE, Is it ia good suggestion, to say that each VAE has text file, and inside it, it contains the list of models it supports?

Right now I have to make a copy of the VAE and rename it, or hard link it or something like that. This creates a huge list of duplicate VAEs.
