Hello AdGuard team,

We would like to ask about a possible issue related to AdGuard DNS filtering.

We have observed that some Android users encounter an error when accessing Naver services.
Here is the list of domains that have been reported through customer inquiries.

  • search.shopping.naver.com
  • talk.naver.com
  • m.entertain.naver.com
  • m.search.naver.com

The error indicates that the IP address cannot be resolved (DNS resolution failure).

During our investigation, we found that this issue can be reproduced when the Android device is configured with the following setting:

  • Android setting: Private DNS
  • Private DNS hostname: dns.adguard.com

When Private DNS is set to dns.adguard.com, access to certain Naver services fails with an IP resolution error.
When the Private DNS setting is disabled or changed, the services work normally.

This issue does not affect all users, but only a subset of Android users, which makes it difficult for us to identify the cause solely on our side.
We suspect that this behavior might be related to one of the filters used by AdGuard DNS.

Environment:

  • Platform: Android
  • DNS configuration: Android Private DNS
  • Private DNS hostname: dns.adguard.com

Could you please confirm whether any AdGuard DNS filters may affect Naver service domains?
If so, we would appreciate it if you could review whether this could be an unintended block (possible false positive).

Thank you for your assistance.
