DNS rewrites dosnt work anymore

I've got several servers on my local network (LAN). When I'm using my LAN, I'd prefer the mail.domain.xx to point to one specific IP. However, when I'm accessing it from the public internet, I want it to use the public IP for mail.domain.xx.

I initially set up a DNS rewrite for mail.domain.xx, and things were smooth for a while. But then, out of the blue, it just stopped working. I had switch my router to pfSense, but I can't quite figure out how that might have affected AdGuard and its DNS rewrites.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
