Adguard Home + Wireguard on OpenWrt

Hi,
I've setup Adguard on OpenWrt forwarding DNS (dnsmasq) to port 5300 on ip 192.168.1.1. Everything is working fine locally.
I've also setup Wireguard interface on ip 192.168.7.1 port 51820 using my duckdns as endpoint. The Wireguard interface is set to use the lan firewall rules. If i set a DNS address (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.7.1) in the android or windows Wireguard client, i lose DNS resolutions. I know i have 2 differents subnets but why the firewall rules doesn't take care of the DNS routing. If i use 192.168.7.1 as DNS on the clients and bind the Wireguard interface (192.168.7.1) in Adguard Home yaml, all is working fine. Is this the correct way of doing it security wise or will it be better to add firewall rules. Thank you
