Background
There is confusion between the concepts of Sources and Personalities in both the UX and the system architecture.
Currently:
- Sources are where we store and manage the URLs used on the platform. They represent external references and allow us to validate and check those URLs.
- Personalities represent public figures that can be associated with a speech, debate, or images, allowing us to verify the authenticity and accuracy of statements made by those public figures.
Despite serving very different purposes (data/reference vs. persona/context), this distinction is not clearly communicated in the UI or documentation. This creates ambiguity about what each entity is responsible for, how they should be used, and what users should expect from each one.
The intention of this issue is to clarify these concepts and ensure they are clearly defined and easily understood from a user experience perspective.
How
- Formally define what Sources are (URL repositories and reference validation layer).
- Formally define what Personalities are (public figures associated with speeches, debates, or images for verification purposes).
- Establish a clear separation of responsibilities from the user’s perspective:
- Sources → reference management (URLs, validation, external content).
- Personalities → contextual layer (which public figure the content is associated with).
- Review naming and ensure it accurately reflects their roles.
- Align UI copy and documentation to clearly communicate these two parts individually.
The goal is clarity, consistency, and a cleaner mental model for users.
