Description
Background Information
We need to validate the complete user flow for new users who arrive on the platform through external channels, especially Instagram.
There are two related improvements that directly impact this flow:
- Nice-to-have: Create a redirect on the tracking page when a claim is assigned to the verification request Nice-to-have: Create a redirect on the tracking page when a claim is assigned to the verification request #2019
- Enhancement: Redirection for tracking after creation for external verification request creators Enhancement: Redirection for tracking after creation for external verification request creators #2018
These issues ensure that users who submit a verification request from an external source (e.g., Instagram) are properly redirected to the tracking page of the request they created and to the respective fact-check once it is available.
Although these improvements are handled in separate issues, they are directly connected to this flow and contribute to a more cohesive experience.
However, this task goes beyond redirection after submission.
We also need to evaluate the full journey of a new user:
- User arrives via an Instagram link.
- User lands on the website (currently the Home page).
- What actions are available from there?
- Is the next step clear?
- Is the intention (stay, log in, submit a verification request, explore the repository) clearly communicated?
The main goal is to analyze how this flow currently behaves and whether it supports the intended outcome: user engagement, retention, and successful action completion.
How
- Map the full journey for a new user:
- Instagram → Landing (Home) → Navigation → Action.
- Test the verification request submission flow from an external entry point.
- Validate the redirect behavior after submission (in alignment with Nice-to-have: Create a redirect on the tracking page when a claim is assigned to the verification request #2019 and Enhancement: Redirection for tracking after creation for external verification request creators #2018).
- Evaluate:
- Where the user lands.
- What CTAs are visible.
- Whether login/register is encouraged at the right moment.
- Whether tracking the request is intuitive.
- Identify friction points, unclear transitions, or drop-off risks.
- Document inconsistencies between expected behavior and current behavior.
Expected Behavior
- A new user arriving from Instagram clearly understands what the platform does.
- The next action (log in, submit a verification request, explore content) is obvious.
- The overall journey feels cohesive and intentional.
- Related improvements (Nice-to-have: Create a redirect on the tracking page when a claim is assigned to the verification request #2019 and Enhancement: Redirection for tracking after creation for external verification request creators #2018) are acknowledged as contributing factors to strengthening this flow.
