-2. Appointments: The first ALESCo members are to be appointed by the Board of Directors. After the initial appointment, the membership of ALESCo will manage itself - adding members or filling vacancies as deemed necessary by vote of the current members. ALESCo members are expected to have and maintain relevant knowledge and understanding of the technical aspects surrounding AlmaLinux as well as the greater enterprise Linux and open source ecosystems to allow them to make informed decisions in policy creation and voting. New members may be appointed to ALESCo either to fill a vacancy arising from a member's resignation or to expand the committee's membership. The process for appointing a new member requires that a candidate must first be nominated by a current, acting member of ALESCo. The nominated candidate must be an active member of the AlmaLinux community. Following nomination, the candidate must complete a questionnaire provided by ALESCo, which is intended to help the committee make an informed and balanced decision by understanding the candidate's background, qualifications, and motivation. The appointment of the new member requires approval by a simple majority vote of the current ALESCo members. Following successful approval, the candidate shall be invited to the next ALESCo meeting, where they will formally confirm their acceptance to join the committee.
