Methane is probably going to need major changes, or at least rewrites of core parts of the mod. |

I managed to get a simple version of Methane working, but the performance difference VS vanilla was really disappointing (900 -> 935 FPS), and it only worked with sodium's renderer. |

This may be a result of my computer just being too fast to make a noticeable difference, so I'll need to benchmark it on a weaker system later on. |

It's hard to get any performance gains without breaking something (especially w/ sodium), and it looks like there isn't actually much to be gained from lighting optimization. I might pivot to making a general-purpose performance mod, but nothing's set in stone. |
