Cant convert .3w

When running the application I get LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'zlib.lib' [C:\Users\MyUser\Downloads\dV3wConverter-master\dV3wConverter-master\dV3wConverter\dV3wConverter.vcxproj]

This project is very old and probably does not support current 3w file formats.
It was tested with the 2019 version of Visual Studio seven years ago.
Probably something have been changed in the zlib library.

You have to set the "MSVSIDE" variable in "dV3wConverter.cmd" scrip to point to the valid MSV directory and "GENERATOR" variable to match your Visual Studio Compiler version.
Both must be set before the script will be run.
Generators:

• Visual Studio 17 2022
• Visual Studio 16 2019
• Visual Studio 15 2017

Run the "dV3wConverter.cmd" script and check the output.
Copy the "zs.lib" file from "dV3wConverter\lib\x64\lib" to "dV3wConverter\lib\x64\Release" and "dV3wConverter\lib\x64\Debug" as "zlib.lib".
Copy the "zs.lib" file from "dV3wConverter\lib\Win32\lib" to "dV3wConverter\lib\Win32\Release" and "dV3wConverter\lib\Win32\Debug" as "zlib.lib".

Open "dV3wConverter.sln" and confirm conversion to new generator version and close the project.
Next run "dV3wConverter.cmd" again.

Please let me know if dV3wConverter still works.

Okay so I've got the tool building and it runs, but it doesnt generate the files correctly. It Shows encoding 100% but then the .3w will not import into xyz.

This is the original gcode file that shows valid in orcaslicer.

If you'd like, I can fork the repo for updating it to vs 2022. I think it will still work, there is just something not functioning quite right.

I had a thought, I wonder if this could somewhat easily be converted to C#. DotNet has a built in api for AES encryption so there is need (if I understand correctly) for an external library. I'm not sure if some of what you're doing is because AES encryption was new (totally grasping at straws as currently encryption is a bit over my head not an expert on the history of AES) at the time you created the library. I wonder if now that everything has matured if there might be an easier way.

I definitely want to try and at least get this working again as there is very much still a need. Threeduber is the only other library out there and there are forks floating around of it but it requires python which really limits it's usability. If we could convert it to .net 8 it could be a standalone self-contained executable and hooked up to a simple gui.

I'm eager to know your thoughts!

So I think its definitely possible. I've successfully decoded the 3w files but after its encrypted back xyz cant read it.
This was the decrypted gcode result. I'll clean up my console app and push it to here so you can see what I've got so far. I'm using your repo and a fork of threedub (in python) to piece it together.

"For creating 3w file the 3w file prefix is needed.
If the 3w file prefix is not specified on the command line it is assumed that it is given at beginning of input file."

"Input_Prefix_File" describe configuration of XYZ printer.
Simplest way to create "Input_Prefix_File" is converting 3w file to GCODE and extract comments from beginning of it.
The 3w file must have the appropriate printer and filament configuration.
Once you have created a few such files for different configurations, you will know what needs to be set there.
Then you will be able to add the appropriate derectives to your slicer.
