Apicurio Registry Operator - installs 2.x version of Apicurio Schema registry instead of the latest 3.x

I've installed Apicurio Registry Operator using the following command ->

export NAMESPACE="apicurio-registry-operator" # Replace "default" with your target namespace
curl -sSL "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Apicurio/apicurio-registry-operator/main/install/install.yaml" | sed "s/apicurio-registry-operator-namespace/$NAMESPACE/g" | kubectl apply -f - -n $NAMESPACE

I've also installed Apicurio Schema Registry, and i see that the version installed is 2.6

Can we use version 3.x with the Schema Registry operator (i.e. specify version in deployment.yaml file) ?
If not - is it advisable to use the Schema Registry Operator ? How often is the Operator updated ?

With Apicurio Registry 3 we have rebuilt the operator in Java using the OperatorSDK. We're in the middle of the release process and the documentation has not been updated yet, but you have instructions on how to install version 3 [here](https://github.com/Apicurio/apicurio-registry/blob/main/operator/README.md).
