Does appium-device-farm support sharding across available devices? 🙏

Not by default! We just relieve on the client request! So for example WDIO supports sharding that means device-farm will work with it

I created a discussion on wdio as well webdriverio/webdriverio#14693. I didn't find anything about running wdio tests using sharding in parallel and thought that appium-device-farm could do it.

Is it something that can be implemented on device-farm or would you say that it's better to have it on wdio?

Also, do you have an idea about how to do it in a cleaner way than what I described here webdriverio/webdriverio#14693? Thanks 🙏

Sorry the initial description was not clear. I'm trying to do sharding on the same machine. I want to run multiple simulators on the same machine to reduce tests duration.

When I tried to do it, it was running 1 test at a time on a single device.

@bacarybruno so how things works under the hood,

Appium-device-farm plugin can handle multiple Appium sessions and it will take care of device allocation and all the port management.

For example:
You have 4 devices/emulators/simulators and when wdio runs test in parallel meaning if it sends 4 Appium
Create session then plugin will take care and run the tests on each device by finding free device.
