Standalone OS/Software for PC like Organnery

for a matter like this, you would need a very lightweight linux distro designed for legacy hardware so that it’s processing and resource requirements would be very minimal headroom. then you’ll need it configured for the midi interfaces / console and audio interface(s). to build something like this, like Organnery would be a challenge. I am aware that at present and has been for some time, Organnery has been shelved, no significant updates and no release for newer raspberry pi system boards. One of the team in question disappeared without trace. I speak from experience on this matter from an accessibility development project, so have seen this and kept monitoring it for a while. lew

@EnzoEbardo What is your target hardware? Do you have a screen/keyboard connected to it or do you see it to be MIDI controlled only?
It should be possible to build a bootable image, say, for a Raspberry Pi or something, but this would be somewhat a different project, since the current implementation requires GUI capabilities to be present on your PC.

@lewisalexander2020 As far as I know Organnery's main contributor changed job, and his new position does not allow him to spend his time on this. We've been in touch briefly, with an idea to join forces perhaps, but I have not heard from him since then.

I have 10 year old pc and a Touchscreen monitor to use like in organnery. Wishing to use like organnery but on pc. I believe pc is the best hardware for this project.

Off topic, can we run this app on android instead?

@EnzoEbardo What operating system do you run? On Linux you can configure it to start Aeolus automatically on boot. Well, technically, on Windows as well...

I have not tried to run it on Android, but I did run it on iOS, so I support it will run on Android as well. However, officially distributing for mobile platforms is painful, so you'd need to compile it youself.

For my organ (GrandOrgue), I use MX Linux. You could install it on your PC, and once everything is set up, create a snapshot (ISO). This would give you an installable live system. You could then also make this available to others.
