SW and HW Revision compatibility // HW revision detection

I have SW revision 2.6 and HW revision 2 according display message. Can I use the latest firmware? Furthermore, I would like to know how the HW revision is detected.

Additional question regarding the same topic: Can I still use the latest firmware (3.1) with a TFT using the ST7735? If not, which is the latest SW that I can use with this display type? I currently use version 2.6.
