Relations between signal-cli, signal-desktop (and signal server ?)

Hi there,

Sorry for my newbie question, but I am a bit lost in understanding the relationship between signal-cli and signal-desktop and eventually a signal server on my Linux machine.

My setup is the following one : using signal-cli, I was able to link my signal-desktop app with my phone number, and hence I can use this app happily.

Now I am wondering, let's say if I add a contact using signal-cli updateContact, if this contact is saved somewhere on a signal server so that I can see it if I for example, open signal linked with my phone number too on another Linux workstation ?
