What does the color property in listContacts output actually mean and why is it always null?

Hi,

For all contacts, color is always null in the listContacts output. Apparently, according to this comment it's the "avatar color" for contacts without contact avatar or profile avatar? It probably is not the color that users can set per conversation for their own bubble color because that color is not synced across official clients last time I checked. I couldn't find out why it's always null, though.
