Description
As noted here in this comment, we have two different feature lists and they are not in synchronizations, leading to reader confusion.
The feature list https://wiki.asteroidos.org/index.php/Watch_Feature_List is automatically generated from data on the rest of the wiki. The calculation of stars has been a subject of some debate (see https://wiki.asteroidos.org/index.php/Watch_Support_Level for the current iteration) but it is not currently automatically calculated.
By contrast, watches list uses an entirely different set of tools unrelated to the wiki, so it's a manual update process.
While the first one is accurate and automatically updated, it's also not very pretty and requires scrolling which is pretty awful from a UI point of view. The second one is pretty, but doesn't have updated information and is a maintenance headache to keep synchronized.
I'd favor a system where a user could provide their own weighting and then get a personalized recommendation, but I wasn't able to figure out how to do that in the wiki.
My wish list:
- eliminate the non-wiki table so that there is only a single table
- automatically calculate stars and apply that to each watch
- make the wiki-based feature list much prettier and allow, for example, hiding or ranking by feature
- make the wiki-based list wider
- pin the watch name column so it's always visible when scrolling to the right
- use colors on the wiki-based list
- allow users to provide their own feature weighting to get personalized recommendation
