Here are some of the breakouts that happened at last two Astro Hack Weeks.

  • Intro to profiling python. From a question during the intro session: "is it faster to do x*x or x**2?", answer: don't assume, profile! (John Parejko)

  • TOPCAT and STILTS let you load, explore, and visualize tables easily both through a GUI and on the command line. (Tina Peters)

  • Intro to Julia programming language. Could be a brief overview or a more in-depth tutorial. Kyle Barbary
