Wallpapers should crossfade when the theme switches. I have a light and a dark version of a simple line art image and I want to crossfade between them when the switch happens. The switch is super jarring, since the taskbar already crossfades, but the wallpaper does not. Windows has a mode for switching between wallpapers after some time duration and those crossfade.

Describe alternatives you've considered
None. I don't think there's any.

I use windows 11.

We actually can't force the crossfade animation. We need to know how to communicate with the private wallpaper API and that's not easy, not documented and way too much hustle for this small detail. This is why this feature will probably not be realised

Well then you could crossfade the images manually. It's not hard to crossfade two images.

We can't play a video as wallpaper. We can only tell Windows to play a crossfade while switching. But if we don't know how, that's difficult. It's not like it's hard to make a crossfade, it's just hard to tell Windows to do so.
