vim + YCM + harper-ls

Hello,

Has anyone managed to use YCM with vim and the generic-LSP support successfully with harper-ls? The plain vim-ls worked fine for me, but YCM unfortunately did not.

Hi, I'm not a Vim or YCM user so correct me if I'm wrong, but going over the YCM readme, it doesn't seem to support the LSP features that harper-ls requires to work. Primarily, harper-ls provides diagnostics to clients to show spelling and grammar errors, however, YCM doesn't seem to support showing diagnostics from language servers. They only purport to support the following:

• displaying signature help (argument hints) when entering the arguments to a function call (Vim only)
• finding declarations, definitions, usages, etc. of identifiers, and an interactive symbol finder
• displaying type information for classes, variables, functions etc.,
• displaying documentation for methods, members, etc. in the preview window, or in a popup next to the cursor (Vim only)
• fixing common coding errors, like missing semi-colons, typos, etc.,
• semantic renaming of variables across files,
• formatting code,
• removing unused imports, sorting imports, etc.

Additionally, in the Diagnostic Display section, they write:

YCM will display diagnostic notifications for the C-family, C#, Go, Java, JavaScript, Rust, and TypeScript languages. Since YCM continuously recompiles your file as you type, you'll get notified of errors and warnings in your file as fast as possible.

So it seems diagnostics are only provided for those languages listed and it only comes from YCM, not language servers.

Have you made diagnostics work for other language servers? If so, maybe you can share that part of your config and we can work out how to replicate it for harper-ls.
