Can't comment on Stewart theme when not AT

Quick summary

Comment box does not appear on home page of site with Stewart theme on non AT Pro plan.

Steps to reproduce

TO RECREATE:

1. Create a site with Pro plan (crucially not AT)
2. Add Stewart theme
3. Set it to show latest posts on the home page
4. Add the comment block to the home page index template
5. Look at the home page in the public view. The heading to write a comment appears but no box appears to add a comment

WHAT I FOUND:

• Error can be reproduced on a test site if you use the same template layout as the presenting case in the template.
• If you click an individual post the comments work but not on the home page.
• Theme is Stewart (Automattics). Not retired
• Plan is Pro Plan but not AT so no plugins

WORKAROUND:

• AT the site and it works but this option does not help in the presenting case.
