Fediverse replies to federated local comments are not coming into Wordpress.

Steps to reproduce

1. Post an entry.
2. Have someone comment from the Fediverse.
3. Reply to it with a local comment from inside WP.
4. Have that someone reply to that last local comment from the Fediverse.
5. This last reply (4) does not come into Wordpress.

As in, an unfederated reply? Or is it a federated one? Trying to clarify what local means in this context.

It's Local as in the Protocol—so not ActivityPub. I made it from Wordpress's Comment dashboard section by clicking "Reply" underneath the original, ActivityPub, reply to the post. Nevertheless, that Local Comment was then federated and shown back in the Fediverse. Up until here, no surprises.

But when the other Fediverse user replied to that LC to continue the conversation, I couldn't see the message anywhere on Wordpress. I found out by checking the thread on Mastodon.

Could you link us to the comment that didn't make it back to WP so we can check its activity json?

When hosted on wp.com, federated replies are sometimes marked as spam by remote instances.

Do you use the ActivityPub plugin in combination with Webmention/Brid.gy?

Or have you added some custom code?

Your likes and shares show up as comments and that is not the default behaviour of the plugin!?

Yes, I'm using the Webmention plugin as well, and I have customised the displaying code in my theme to show likes and shares in a comment-like fashion. Is any of that interfering?
