I added

import mimetypes
mimetypes.add_type('application/javascript', '.js')
mimetypes.add_type('text/css', '.css')

to the app.py, and it solved the blank page issue - you still get a AZURE_TENANT_ID flag, but you can query the app.

@MaddieGibbons This didn't change anything for me but I've just noticed after running start.ps1, a popup notification in vscode asks me if I want to open it in a browser or preview it inside vscode. If I preview inside vscode it works fine whereas the web browser will endlessley load/be blank. I'm happy with the preview in vscode work around at least.

• Are you seeing any sort of error?
• What do you see in the logs?
• Are you running from a Terminal inside VS Code or elsewhere?
• Are you using start.ps1, start.sh, or Run&Debug?

I've added some additional .env details and now it is working locally again. I will check which was missing, but it was not the AZURE_TENANT_ID

Thanks for filing this. The “Incomplete environment configuration” line comes from DefaultAzureCredential and is expected in local logs; it keeps trying other credentials. The blank page on Windows was caused by missing MIME types and has since been fixed in app/backend/app.py, and we’ve also improved tenant/auth handling.

We now use AzureDeveloperCliCredential with a very explicit AZURE_TENANT_ID env variable (output from main.bicep), to reduce the chance of this sort of issue.

Given the age of the thread, I’m going to close this out.

If you still see credential errors on the latest main, please open a new issue wit the backend logs so I can help investigate. Double‑check AZURE_TENANT_ID is set appropriately.
