How to use existing resources instead of creating new with azd up command

Minimal steps to reproduce

Any log messages given by the failure

Not able to use the existing azure resources. When trying to follow below steps it again creates new resources but don't use existing one.

Expected/desired behavior

It should run with existing openAI service, storage account, search service etc without creating it automatically.

OS and Version?

Windows 7, 8 or 10. Linux (which distribution). macOS (Yosemite? El Capitan? Sierra?)

I seem to running into the same issue:

InvalidResourceLocation: The resource 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' already exists in location 'eastus' in resource group 'yyyyyyyyyyyy'. A resource with the same name cannot be created in location 'zzzzzzzz'. Please select a new resource name.

Same for me, tries to create openai resource even with azd env set openAiServiceName.

I also get another issue with code appends ".openai.azure.com" to the openAiServiceName. Our openai endpoint url totally different as it's protected by api gateway.

This issue is stale because it has been open 60 days with no activity. Remove stale label or comment or this issue will be closed.

Did anyone figure out what the fix is? I'm getting this same error when I am trying to deploy to an existing app service plan.

@brendanahart What's your exact error? When this repo "reuses" existing resources, it does actually try to re-provision the resource, so if there's a mismatch between the App Service plan information, like the region is a different region, then you can get the error because it thinks that you're trying to make a new one with same name in different region.
