Technology wise, it looks like azurechat uses an entirely JavaScript/TypeScript codebase, running the backend with NodeJS. In terms of Azure architecture, it seems to use similar setup - App Service, AI Search, OpenAI, ec. It stores keys in Key Vault instead of using keyless/managed identity.
Feature-wise, I think it is more like a ChatGPT clone, focusing on personal use, versus a chat-on-business-data use case that this repo focuses on. It has more features for personal use than ours (like upload, voice, etc) but less of the enterprise features (access control).

@thivy Can you add your perspective as the author of azurechat?

@pamelafox @nselvase from a technology point Azure Chat is built using Next.js + TypeScript along with Azure AI services.

From a feature point you can upload multiple files within a chat session and chat with them. Recently we also added OpenAI Function calling which facilitates brining your own Azure AI search (indexed outside of Azure Chat Solution Accelerator)

Thanks for the suggestion—and for the helpful details from and @thivy. We’ll track this as a docs enhancement and plan to add a short comparison with microsoft/azurechat (likely in docs/other_samples.md) summarizing the differences noted here to reduce repeat questions.
