Subscription requirement for OpenAI and all other resources

There is a note in Deployment Guide "Line 49: ### 1. Deploy Azure OpenAI Service. Note that the AOAI instance must be in the same subscription that you plan to deploy this solution accelerator in.

What is the purpose of this requirement and how rigid is it?

I was able to deploy with OpenAI in a different subscription as it looks like it's the Managed Identity that connects to everything, however, I haven't gone past viewing the Swagger APIs, HealthCheck and status of AKS Services. If it's in a different subscription, what's the implication?

Hi @markmassad, your assumption is correct. This has been a soft requirement due to the Cognitive Services OpenAI Contributor RBAC role assignment that gets made as part of the deploy.sh script. If you have modified the script to allow for that RBAC assignment to be made on an AOAI instance in another subscription, then you should be fine.

I am not aware of any other related issues that would block as long as the RBAC assignment is done correctly.
