Description of Feature or Work Requested

Spec: Crash consistent VM restore points PM Spec.docx

Ask: We are already working on incremental snapshots for DD disks. We need to extend this to support taking point crashconsistent snapshots to DD disks (Ultra and Pv2) that are attached to the VM.

@zhoxing-ms , this is not a security feature. This is adding support for an existing GA feature "restore points" with Pv2 and Ultra disks.

Hi, this inquiry has been well received albeit being triaged as non-security related ask.

Azure CLI is currently prioritizing direct SFI requirements and items and this request does not seem to be related to SFI. We'll retain it in our backlog at this point. Please reach out to AzPyCli@microsoft.com if you'd justify it's highly customer-impacted and need to be escalated.

@zhoxing-ms filing this for Br semester. We are targeting this feature for public preview by end of 2025 and would need CLI support. The API side are being implemented and is expected to be ready by Jul'25. Please let me know how much time is required for CLI team to enable this feature once API is ready. The feature is about supporting crash consistent restore points for premium SSDv2 and Ultra disks types.
