CPU: Apple Mac Mini M4

Steps:

brew install azure-cli
az extension add --name azure-devops
az artifacts universal download --organization "https://dev.azure.com/speedme/" --project "5c85e17e-5247-4d94-a234-ea4e060a29b8" --scope project --feed "FPIE.CI.BuildFeed" --name "ninja_build-orient-linux-x86_64" --version "1.0.1" --path .

Error:

[Errno 86] Bad CPU type in executable: '/Users/****/.azure/azuredevops/cli/tools/artifacttool/ArtifactoTool_osx-x64_0.2.379/.artifacttool'

Apparently, a wrong binary package is downloaded in artifacts extension.

I had exactly same problem on MacBook M4 Pro:
azure-cli installed according to manual here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/cli/azure/install-azure-cli-macos

On my another laptop, where is azure-cli version 2.68.0, works perfectly

Possible solution (Extracted from existing issue, might be incorrect; please verify carefully)

Solution 1:

The devops extension is not supported on ARM, and they're not planning to support ARM64 OS either. The CLI command will have to be run under Rosetta. Refer to the issue I raised on MS developer community.

Solution 2:

Apparently, it defaults to installing the x86_64-version. From #25785 (comment):

My team members have been able to use the azure-devops extension to download from the artifacts feed on apple silicon mac books using az version 2.68, but trying to do the same on an M4 with az version 2.77 throws the cpu error. so far i have not found an acceptable solution as installing homebrew and the cli for x86-64 as stated in this thread breaks my workflow
