Error adding ml extension to new azure-cli installation

Describe the bug

I have azure cli installed, see the version below:

But when I try to add the ml extension via az extension add -n ml I get the following error: An error occurred. Pip failed with status code 1. Use --debug for more information.

Possible solution (Extracted from existing issue, might be incorrect; please verify carefully)

Solution 1:

I faced the same issue and resolved it by using an older version of the CLI, 2.51.0. The CLI page has descriptions on how to retrieve older versions: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/install-azure-cli-windows?tabs=azure-cli

I had the same error, and I was able to solve it by installing version 2.49.0.
