azure-cli-2.73 breaks rhel8 compatiblity

Describe the bug

Hi,
it seems with azure-cli-2.73.0-1.el8.x86_64 you guys have bumped the dependency for python to 3.12; this is not available on all rhel8 releases that are still within support.

Example RHEL 8.6:

# dnf install azure-cli-2.73.0-1.el8.x86_64
Last metadata expiration check: 2:52:33 ago on Mon 19 May 2025 11:27:13 AM UTC.
Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides python3.12 needed by azure-cli-2.73.0-1.el8.x86_64

8.6 still has support until May 31, 2026 (SAP Updates)

My two cents about the issue: you either need to branch your repositories again to match minor releases of rhel or you should support every rhel release that still has Red Hat support.

Possible solution (Extracted from existing issue, might be incorrect; please verify carefully)

After installing Python 3, you can download the azure-cli package and install it without dependency checks:

$ sudo yum install yum-utils
$ sudo yumdownloader azure-cli
$ sudo rpm -ivh --nodeps azure-cli-2.73.0-1.el8.x86_64.rpm

@Klaas-, we did this according to your suggestion #30505 🙂.

This will certainly increase the maintenance cost.

I haven't looked into RHEL's supported Pythons in detail. Is there a Python version that is supported by all RHEL 8 minor versions?

I did warn you in #30505 that it will break EUS/E4S if you chose 3.12 because it was only introduced in 8.10 ... :)

About your question:
RHEL has two types of appstreams: "Full Life Application Streams Release Life Cycle" and "Application Streams Release Life Cycle"

the only python supported for the full rhel8 lifecycle by Red Hat is 3.6:

If you go the way of python3.12 (end of support may 2029 - same as rhel8 in general) you are saying you only support 8.10 -- which I guess is also an option, but you'll be abandoning the SAP scenarios not yet updated to 8.10, to my understanding the scale out scenarios use azure-cli (at least that's where I noticed the failed dependency).
