Assigning output of a module to variables based on named matches.

I have got a array output from module and i want to create variables(string) out of array items based on jsonpath query.
Any suggetion? Is this achievable?

Don't have any suggestions for this one and I'm not sure it is possible. @majastrz there is no concept of conditions (filtering) on anything but a resource right? @bmoore-msft may have a creative workaround.

We need something like a filter() function

it's a little verbose but you can do it with replace(string())... if I understand the scenario correctly.

using an object/hashtable

Currently for lookups you need an object. i.e. a hashtable.

e.g. from params or input file

  "OSType": {    
    "Win10": {
      "OS": "Windows",
    },
    "SQLServer2016": {
      }
    },

So then you end up using the key of the object/hashtable

OSType[vm.OSType].OS

using contains.

• I found that you can use contains() in order to filter a list.
• In the past I have asked about match() or like() for simple match or wildcard filters, however contains has been working.

However I discovered that I can use it perfectly with Modules via the if() however it doesn't actually remove items from the list with the ternary conditional operator for variables and outputs.

• I feel like i should be able to remove the nulls, however cannot think of it right now ?

Exactly the same as above, however with the contains inline

I believe you could apply this to the sample provided in the original q. ... however I cannot remember how to remove the nulls or empty array (depending on what you set for the ternary false), however I am sure that is something that I have used before?! I was thinking it was a union(vmid3,[]) or union(vmid3,take('',0)) however I couldn't repro it ?

Now I am thinking you would just need build a filter Module, since modules work with the 'if()' I may give that some consideration.

Obviously, some filter() operator would be useful. like() or match() may also, perhaps simplematch.
