Can you use Python 3.13.0 or Node JS 23.6.1 versions in new deployment?

Unfortunately, the current Python and Node JS versions are not supported by our security team. Am I able to just change the version in the code in a NEW IPAM deployment?

If so, what files do I need to change i.e., Dockerfile.func

I did see the discussion of EOL for the current Python 3.9 but was not clear if it also applies to new deployments. If this question has been answered please send me the thread. :-)

Hi @jayaries73, version 3.6.0 of Azure IPAM will be coming out shortly and will use Python 3.11 and NodeJS 22.x. I'm just working through some final testing of all of these changes now to make sure there are no breaking changes.

Hope that will meet your needs, please let me know if it won't for any particular reason.

Excited about the new version, unfortunately the following versions below are only supported in our environment and I don't know enough from a compliance perspective to refute the security requirement or convey how these versions are just as secure.

Well, there are several places where these references need to be update. Additionally, I haven't tested the code under these versions of Python and/or NodeJS so I have no idea if things will break or not.

How does your security compliance work for 3rd party solutions for which you don't control the supporting versions of the package?

Additionally, the NodeJS code is compiled so really what is executed at the end of the day is just Python which is leveraging the FastAPI framework and serving the compiled NodeJS (JavaScript) code.

All of that said...you could just update the base images referenced in the Dockerfile, but I can't provide any guarantees things won't break until I have time to properly test everything on my end.
