Support for Python 3.9 ends on 31 October 2025

Received the following alert from Microsoft Azure for IPAM:

In alignment with the end of community support, on 31 October 2025, support for Python 3.9 in Azure Functions will end. Your apps that are hosted on Functions will continue to run, but security updates and performance optimizations will no longer be available and we'll no longer provide customer service for Python 3.9. Learn more about Azure Functions stack version support.

Required action
To avoid potential security vulnerabilities and take advantage of the latest features, follow the steps to upgrade your Functions apps to Python 3.11 by 31 October 2025.

Is there any action necessary? Are you planning to upgrade the python version anytime soon?

Hi @aditgoyal31, I'm very aware of this timeline and I'm currently working on a process/script/etc. that will help users easily migrate from Azure Functions or App Services that are currently set to Python 3.9 to Python 3.11 or higher. Additionally, I'm working to make sure the code works without issue in newer versions of Python as well.

I'll definitely have something out prior to the October 2025 deadline so hang tight, but I'll be sure to keep you (and everyone else) posted via this enhancement request as progress is made.

Thanks for raising this, @aditgoyal31. With the October 31 deadline approaching fairly soon, clear guidance and migration tooling for moving from Python 3.9 to 3.11+ in Azure Functions would be really valuable. Looking forward to the updates mentioned above.

Hi @aditgoyal31 and @magnus-longva-bouvet, this is now resolve in v3.6.0 which came with PR #364.

You can run the Update script and that will handle the migration from Python 3.9->3.11.
