There is no src/build directory in misc/archlinux in a vanilla checkout - could the script already have been run once?

line 34 of the PKGBUILD should really be mkdir -p $srcdir/build - I suggest if you're okay with installing the 7.40.2 release to use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brlcad-bin instead
