Use module-alias

Rather than having a bunch of relative paths for including common modules (e.g. helpers.js or types), modules-alias makes it possible to define aliases for absolute paths in the project.  This is a style / quality of life improvement but I wanted to document it here.

Note: Important to make sure that the module itself is well maintained before adding a dependency.
