Description
If used in the middle of a word, wildcards do not work.
Particularly notorious is how collectors have inconsistently been entered.
Thomas Hawkes Nash III has been entered as 'T.H. Nash', 'T.H. Nash III', 'Nash III, T.H.' etc.
So, to make sure we generally get all records, we typically search for the collector using wildcards, e.g., %Nash%.
Some collector names have unusual diacritics, e.g., 'Vĕzda', 'Lücking', etc.
However, a search for %V%zda% or %L%cking% does not return anything.
This means, wildcards cannot be used inside a search term.
Curiously enough, a search for %Vezda% returns both 'Vĕzda' and 'Vezda', and a search for %Lucking% returns both 'Lücking' and 'Lucking', but not 'Luecking'. When the German umlaut is not available on a keyboard, the correct transcription is 'ue' for 'ü'; thus for in some collections the spelling 'Luecking' has been used
