Inquiries about membrane

@yoelcortes , I hope you're doing well. I noticed BioSTEAM's AnMBR unit in wastewater treatment utilizes membranes, but these appear unsuitable for gas separation. Does BioSTEAM currently include membrane modules (e.g., polymeric or mixed-matrix membranes) capable of CO₂/CH₄ separation? If not, would it be feasible to model such a process by modifying existing unit operations I aim to simulate biogas upgrading via membrane separation and would appreciate guidance on implementing this in BioSTEAM. Your guidance on this would be invaluable for advancing my project. Thanks in advance for your time!

Hi @1226Wang1226 I'm not aware of a gas separation membrane. We had a placeholder BiogasUpgrading unit in the wwt module to add cost/GHG using a factor, but not really modeling it.

I think @joyxyz1994 implemented a degassing membrane, unsure if she looked into other membrane as well.
