Failed to download image due to entry not present on disk

I have sync'ed my messages to iCloud and the iMessage app on the mac does not have a local copy of images from chats. If I try to download an image through the BB Linux app, I see this error on the mac server:

The server's API has a field for "force", which can be set to true or false. Unsure what the app sets it as, but the server defaults it to "true", and it will download so long as you have the Private API enabled. Do you have the Private API setup? It might be a requirement due to no public API allowing us to force an attachment to be downloaded
