Question: Handling ~/.pki from qutebrowser / QtWebEngine

Hello,
I’m looking into keeping my home directory XDG-clean. Since your dotfiles include qutebrowser, I wonder: have you discovered a method to move or hide the ~/.pki folder that QtWebEngine creates, or do you simply keep it in the home directory?

Hey, I keep it in the home directory.

In theory, you could move ~/.pki by launching qutebrowser with an env var that points home elsewhere. However, that's probably not a good idea..

I will leave this open in case anyone else knows more :)

I've found this resource helpful for determining which files can and cannot be safely relocated from the home folder: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_Base_Directory

There's an entry for the .pki folder, as well as some links to discussions about implementing the xdg standard, but it looks to like it's a no-go for the time being until the Chromium folks make the update:

"Chromium creates .pki due to not setting up NSS properly even though NSS itself allows using XDG spec now. This results in downstream from it not working as well (Qt WebEngine especially affecting many cases like KMail and etc.)"
