You guys! Hope you are feeling guilty ;)

You got me hooked on Budgie since years now! I love it. But since Ubuntu becomes more and more unusable ( i just say snaps ), I need to change my base system. Since I look for a light weight system and I do a lot of work with servers, I want to switch to Apline linux.

Unfortunately there is not package to install budgie.

Do you have a solution? Can you support me in compiling Budgie from source?

I have created a ticket at the alpine gitlab for support as well and I think someone starts working on it!

Our recommendation here would be to package the wayland version of budgie rather than the X11 version. That release is soon(ish) which will be accompanied by build & dependency notes

The Budgie X11 session is working fine in Alpine.

I think the merge is blocked by a Maintainer missing. Perhaps one of the budgie desktop folks can step up?

I can't sign in with my github credentials into github/alpine so asking you. Budgie has been held up there a month ago..and hidden in testing/edge repo...do you have any Alpine news on plans going forward?

I'm a Solus budgie user who just installed Alpine on an old laptop looking forward to Budgie there but it looks stalled. Would ask alpine myself but 1) a second set of git credentials undesirable and 2) thought you might have some info

I don't know what are the conditions to move packages from testing to community repository in Alpine. You can add the testing repository in /etc/apk/repositories file to get budgie.

budgie-desktop is designated as "masked" in the testing alpine repo. And in my apk add.. terminal output. I looked up "masked" in Alpine. It means not available. The guy in the Alpine thread you were in (Kevin?) put the brakes on Budgie-Desktop a month ago. I was just asking if you knew anything more about it. Sorry if I was not clear, that happens sometimes.

I am not familiar with that. I have just tested budgie in my alpine vm and doas apk add budgie-desktop installs it successfully.

interesting, maybe my /etc/apk stuff is weird. it's a new install. thank you for getting back to me fast.
